Easy and fun

My next lot of sewing was done while on a little break. I took my daughter and some friends to our place on the beach at Avoca and while there I sewed up a storm. I made two tops from my collection that had been cut out before the start of the Fast. The first was in a lovely bright cotton that I had been really keen to make up . It is so comfortable and because the bodice is lined I can get away without wearing a bra under it a bonus in summer. The second is a pretty polyester I love the colours and it is cool and comfortable to wear.

Creation Number 2

,

This is the second creation for the year in my journey for the RTW fast. This is an outfit made from some lovely coloured knit fabrics. I lined the patterned fabric with a lovely teal lightweight jersey. So it is incredibly comfortable to wear . The top was self-drafted from a favourite top I own and the jacket and skirt were made from the pattern without alterations. I had cut this outfit out last year and it had been waiting to be bought to life for a while before the impetus of the challenge of the RTW fast made me make time to get it done.

Although I am happy with the outfit I have not yet worn the jacket as it feels itchy so I think I may have to line it also in retrospect I think it looks a little bit too big for my body being vertically challenged as I am .
I think I will have to alter it as I line it.
I will post the results when its done.

Happy sewing,

Sue

The Ready to Wear Fast

I accepted the challenge at the beginning of the year for a 12month Ready to Wear Fast. So I will be showing my sewing journey and the creations I succeed in making along the way. I started in January and have decided to move my blog over to this site so it is more accessible.

I have been sewing since High School and completed numerous courses but until this challenge I had not really made a dent in my stash. The first garment was a dress from a tried and true pattern McCall’s 2049.

I have used a lovely John Kaldor linen and lined it with voile so as to minimize the creasing. This is a lovely comfortable dress to wear just right for our Australian summer.

Until next time,

Sue
