The Red Fabrics
I found this pattern in 2014 and had been searching for the right combination of fabrics.
The Red linen was a fabric that I had in my stash for quite a while waiting for the right garment. The print was also in the stash waiting for the perfect design. This pattern seemed the answer , except the print was a little short so I needed to look for a complimentary color for the border strip on my shopping expedition . While searching I found the additional fabrics and wanted another border fabric as I thought it would add impact.
- stitching the two sides together
- Red Linen
- showing the way it ties and a glimpse of the reverse
- print side of red dress
- showing the ties and other side of red dress
- shoulder join before stitiching after turning right side out
- showing red side of dress
- red linen side showing print
- print A for blue dress
- showing the other side
- Back view reversible blue dress
- blue side 2 with border panel at hem
- showing a glimpse of the reverse side.
- Blue border back view
This is a great pattern to make, it was easy and for the blue combination I added cotton voile between the layers so that the fabric prints were not visible through the other side. The red combination is very dressy on the red side I feel and very casual on the print these will be great dresses for travel.

What an interesting dress – I passed the pattern up, but you have opened my eyes to a myriad possibilities :). I like both of your versions and the fact that each dress is really two!
What an absolutely adorable dress! Perfect for hot and humid summers with that little extra wrap detail for fun. Thank you for sharing as I’ve added this cute pattern to my ‘to buy’ list!
