Flashback Fabric find

This fabulous jersey a great find.

This fabulous jersey a great find.

On a recent trip to Melbourne with my husband I found a fabulous fabric store called Flashback fabrics and furnishings. The store is small but really interesting with an eclectic mix of

of great fabrics in limited quantities.

I found this fabulous blue and black jersey so purchased enough to make leg ins for winter as it is quite thick. I discovered when drafting up my pattern that I had enough to make a skirt as well as pants as long as I used thick elastic for the waist so I didn’t need to sacrifice length.

I had to thread elastic through the hem of the skirt as I think the age of the fabric is such that the jersey does not really spring back into shape so this way my skirt stays relatively straight.

I have  lined the skirt with a lovely soft black stretch , as the main fabric is quite coarse . The pants were self drafted as well from a pair of favorite pants although I miscalculated on the waist length so instead of folding over for the elastic I attached the casing so they sat on my waist I prefer a higher waist in leggings.

These are fun and comfortable although I don’t think they will be terribly forgiving I LOVE the colour.
